About ComponentNews

How ComponentNews is researched, checked and published, and where the information comes from.

What we publish

ComponentNews publishes daily and weekly intelligence reports on the global electronic-components supply chain. Each report tracks freight rates, commodity prices, component shortages, lead times, end-of-life notices, trade policy, geopolitical risk and the macro indicators that drive component procurement.

Editorial standards

Every claim is cited

Each factual statement links to a specific source with an exact publication date. No undated, vague or anonymous sourcing.

Sources come from the reporting window

We cite only material published during the period a report covers. Older institutional data is labeled as such.

No Wikipedia, social media or undated pages

Sources must be professional news outlets, government agencies, industry bodies or manufacturer newsrooms.

Every URL is verified

An automated fact-checker opens each cited URL, reads its publication date, and rejects sources that are dead, undated or outside the reporting window.

Bad sources are replaced, not deleted

When a citation fails, the system searches for a real source covering the same event. Real news is never dropped because of a bad link.

Methodology

  1. Research. Source-specific searches across 80+ named outlets, manufacturer newsrooms and government sources. Each source is searched individually, not with generic keyword searches.
  2. Compilation. Findings are written into a structured report with a fixed set of sections. A section is either filled or says why data is unavailable.
  3. Fact-checking. Every reference URL is fetched and its publication date checked against the reporting window. Dead links, vague dates and banned domains are rejected.
  4. Healing. A failed reference triggers a search for a replacement source covering the same event.
  5. Ranking. Items in each section are ranked by importance: severity for shortages, price impact for materials, how widely a story is covered for highlights.
  6. Weekly synthesis. The week’s daily reports are rolled up into a weekly report that removes duplicates, follows each story across the week, and caps section sizes.
